EuroBio

EuroBio is a three day event taking place in Paris from 7-9 October 2008. It’s aimed at recruiters, job seekers and H.E. etablishments and seeks to further the mobility of researchers throughout the European Research Area.

A Careers Fair Open Day will be held on Wednesday 8 October, in a dedicated careers area inside the EuroBiO Exhibition.

Candidates with the minimum of a Masters Degree in Sciences (or final year PhD) will be able to introduce themselves to recruiters, without prior appointment, and recruiters will be able to offer one-to-one interviews. The Career Fair Open Day will put the accent on alternative careers (to the laboratory), and the multiple talents that biotechnology companies require to grow their business.

ISS is offering you the opportunity to play a role in the development of the new Applicants’ Portal and earn money at the same time. 

The new Applicants’ Portal is replacing the exising Studylink and will improve the internal processing of student applications to King’s. 

ISS are seeking postgraduate students who would be willing to test the new online application form in return for a payment of £9 per hour.  Attendance will be required for four consecutive mornings a week (Tuesday – Friday) and ISS would like people who are available to attend for four consecutive weeks, week commencing 25/08/08.

The work will involve entering information into a computer program through a web browser, following scripts and recording any problems that occur.  Testers must be able to record problems clearly, succinctly and unambiguously and should enjoy attention to detail.

Work will be based at the Strand Campus but may be shifted to a site in the Docklands (5 mins from Canary Wharf) for the final week.  If this is the case, fares to Canary Wharf will be reimbursed if required.

The Source Event 2008

The Source Event, now in its 2nd successful year, is a dedicated science career fair that combines a dynamic exhibition with conference and workshop sessions.

Jobseekers will be able to meet with potential employers who are offering hundreds of genuine vacancies.

The Source Event will be held on 26th September 2008 at the Business Design Centre, London.

The British Library now offers research postgraduates the opportunity to attend training days in English, History, Social Sciences, Entrepreneurship and Modern Foreign Languages in partnership with academic centres of excellence. 

These specially tailored days of talks, workshops and networking opportunities combine a general introduction to the Library with specialised sessions on subject specific material.

Students will be given training on how to access online and electronic catalogues, carry out bibliographic research on their topic and meet expert curators in their field.

To help ensure the scheme is accessible to research postgraduates from across the UK, there are a limited number of travel bursaries available.
