ill1_67x67_tcm18-18753.jpgOver the course of a career the role of Clinical Scientist will include opportunities for laboratory work, basic and applied research, management and teaching. In addition there is the added advantage of contributing directly to patient treatment and care. The basic vocational training of Clinical Scientists prepares you for a wide variety of roles ranging from Audiology and Biochemistry to Microbiology and Clinical Cytogenetics. Whilst not every Clinical Scientist will want to work in every field, each will receive appropriate vocational training to be able to fulfil the roles most characteristic of a scientist in innovation, experimentation and evaluation of the applications of scientific developments to health care and patient wellbeing.

The Strand Graduate Lounge

November 20, 2007

dsc7012.jpgIf you would like to use the shortly-to-be-opened Graduate Lounge at The Strand, could you kindly take your card to Site Services, Rm 20B, to get it programmed?

The problem we are encountering is that students registered at one campus do not have their details recorded at another. Hence, if your home campus is (for example) Guy’s, and you have applied to use The Graduate Lounge at the Strand, site services at The Strand will not have your details and therefore can’t authorise your card. Therefore, the best solution is to go along in person.

When we open Graduate Lounges at other sites we”ll try to find a smoother way of doing things. Until then, your patience is appreciated.

Graduate School Lounges

November 19, 2007

untitled-9.jpgThe bureaucarcy of getting all the details successfully onto the system has proved a little bit problematic. Therefore, can I kindly ask that anyone wishing to use the Lounge at Waterloo presents themsleves to Security, on the left-hand side, just inside the main doors on the ground floor? Have your card with you. They will have a list of all the people who registered an interest on the Grdauate School VLE.

In addition, if you wish to register to use one of the Graduate School lounges, but haven’t already done so, could you kindly give your number and campus of residence as well as your name, please? Go to www.kcl.ac.uk/elk , then to Graduate School Skills Training Programme under Course List.
